Drupal Content Management

Create a New Page

To create a new page for your website you will need a valid account with Content Administrator permissions.  There are three main considerations for creating a new page on your Drupal website:

  • What content do you want on your page?
  • Will this page be live for the general public to view?
  • Where will this page fit within the website's menu structure?

  1. Go to Create Content > Page.
  2. Components of Content Entry for Page:
  • Title - This field must be filled out in order to save the page you are creating.
  • Body - You can write content from scratch in the Body field or paste in pre-existing content.  When typing text, use the "Enter" key for paragraph breaks and the "Shift" plus "Enter" keys for line break (new line without extra space).

Save your page by clicking Save.

Your website's default settings will automatically "Publish" your page once it is saved, meaning the page will be live and indexed in search engines.  If you do not want your page to be public:

  1. Go to the Publishing Options menu at the bottom of the page.  You must be in the Edit view.
  2. Uncheck the box next to "Published."
  3. Save.

Once your new page is saved and published for public viewing, you may also want to place this page within your website's navigation:

  1. Go to the Menu Settings menu at the bottom of the page.  You must be in the Edit view.
  2. Enter a Menu Link Title.  This will be the title of the page within the navigation.
  3. Select a Parent Item from the drop-down menu.  This will dictate under which pre-existing primary menu section this page will exist.  Note:  If you would like this page to become it's own primary link in your website's navigation, please refer to instructions for Managing Your Website's Menu Structure.
  4. Select a Weight from the drop-down menu.  This will dictate where in the list of sub-pages of the Parent Item you selected this page will fall.  Smaller numbers denote a lighter weight which will make that page appear higher on the list, and larger numbers denote a heavier weight making that page fall lower on the list.
  5. Save.
