Create a New WebformCreate a New Webform

Webforms can be used for creating surveys, questionnaires and online applications, just to name a few options.

Configuration

  1. Go to Create Content > Webform.
  2. Add a Title.
  3. Add a Description.  This serves as an introduction and will appear before the form fields you will create in the Form Components step.
  4. Edit the Webform Mail Settings and enter the Email to Address; this is where new webform submissions will be sent.
  5. Edit the Menu Settings to place your webform in your site's navigation.  Enter a Menu Link Title, select a Parent Item and select a Weight (see picture).  For more information on Menu Settings, please refer to Create a New Page.

  6. Save.

Form Components

  1. Once you have saved this new webform, the next page will automatically take you to the Form Components administration page.  First, add a new Form Component by entering a Name in the blank field.  This name will be used to refer to that specific component for purposes of administering the webform, it will not be outfacing to the public on your website.
  2. Select a Type from the drop-down menu.  The most frequently used Types are:
    Text Field
    :  Mainly used for short text-entry questions to capture data such as contact information and short-answer questions.
    Text Area
    :  This option is for long text-entry questions; this type of form component could be used to accept essays and articles.
    Select:  Use this type of form component when capturing specific data where a user must select one of many options or all that apply; you can choose whether this select function comes in the form of checkboxes or a drop-down list.  List all the options you would like to see in your select-list in the "Options" field when you add this form component.

    Fieldset:  When creating a complex webform that needs to be broken up into different sections, use this form component to create a section to which you can add form components.  For example, a Fieldset may be "Address" and you would include form fields for "Name," "Street," etc.
  3. Click Add.
  4. The next screen will let you specify the outfacing components of the new form field you are creating.  Here you can add a Label, a Description and specify whether you would like this form field to be mandatory in the Advanced Settings.
  5. Click Submit.
  6. Edit the order of your form fields by dragging the cross-hair icon to the left of the form component's name.  Make sure you click Submit to save the changes.
  7. To make your webform live on the site, click Publish.

Results

  1. Although these form results will automatically we emailed to whoever you specified in the Configuration step, you can easily view your webform results on your website any time.  Make sure you are logged in and got to your webform.
  2. Click on the Results tab, located to the right of the View and Edit tabs.
  3. This page lists all user submissions for your form.  Click the "View" hyper-link in the list to view any user's submission values in the webform.
  4. There is a Download option here where you can easily download your webform's results as a Microsoft Excel file.
