Fundraising Coordinator

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Are you an experienced, detail-oriented coordinator or project manager? Do you have experience in organizing strategic initiatives with multiple team members? Do you wish to leverage these skills to support an innovative community organization leveraging media and communications technology to help nonprofits and low-income communities to more effectively shape public awareness and public policy? If so, the Open Media Foundation seeks a Fundraising Coordinator to help design and execute fundraising strategies, starting with individual donor cultivation and extending into corporate sponsorships, grants, Board support, fundraising events, and earned income, including:

  • Individual Donor Cultivation: Individual Donor Cultivation will be the primary focus of the position, with training and support via the Community First Foundation and Network for Good’s Jumpstart Program (learn more at jumpstartfundraising.com) to systematize OMF’s approach to engaging current and future donors.

  • Prospect Research: Searching available public databases to compile new donor prospects.

  • Fundraising Events: The Fundraising Coordinator will be responsible for transforming OMF’s rich offering of events to more effectively engage and motivate donors.

  • Support for OMF Board of Directors:  With assistance from the Jumpstart Program, the Fundraising Coordinator will work to engage Board members in gift cultivation and donor relations. This includes revising board job descriptions & orientations with initial assistance from the Jumpstart Program, to foster a culture of giving with clear roles, messaging, policies, and procedures . 

  • Foundation Grants: The Fundraising Coordinator will work with existing staff and contractors to streamline OMF’s grants programs, including organizing template language and fostering personal relationships with prospective funders.

  • Corporate Sponsorships & Underwriting: The Fundraising Coordinator will work to leverage OMF’s Denver Open Media FM radio station and popular website to recognize donors and secure underwriting support from community sponsors.

  • Earned Income: The Fundraising Coordinator will work to integrate fundraising activities with the earned-income efforts that have traditionally sustained OMF.

  • Endowment/Planned Giving: The Fundraising Coordinator will work with the Jumpstart Program to create an Endowment/Planned Giving program, including Gift Acceptance Process and Policies and a planned giving marketing effort within the overall donor communication plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES

OMF has compelling, committed Board Members and Leadership who are willing to open doors and sit in front of a donor and make a hard ask. OMF has committed leaders and members, happy to engage in donor cultivation and stewardship. We have volunteers who are willing to knock on doors, visit local businesses, engage and steward current donors, and organize fund development events. The missing piece is a Fundraising Coordinator to manage these fundraising activities, allowing Board and ED to make strategic asks and focus on mission-critical aspects of donor engagement. We lack a coordinator to schedule and organize engagement opportunities (dinners, events, etc). The Fundraising Coordinator will manage these resources to generate leads and solicit support from an expanding community of support. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Support the CEO in building a culture of philanthropy for all OMF stakeholders, i.e. Donors Board, Staff, and Volunteers.

  • Creation and implementation of a consistent Gift Acceptance Process & Policy

  • Donor development activities and management of donor database

  • Develop strategies, boilerplate language, and communications templates

  • Fundraising-related messaging, marketing and social media

  • Fundraising events and functions for donor acquisition and cultivation

BACKGROUND

  • Highly Technologically-Literate, including Google Office, paperless workplace & CRM

  • Proven experience in fundraising, sales, outreach, or similar setting

  • Experience in volunteer coordination or team/project management

COMPENSATION

This is a full-time position paying $45,000 annually. In addition to health benefits including vision and dental and a flexible PTO policy that includes a paid sabbatical after three years, employees also receive a free Denver Open Media membership which gives them access to all of the Foundation’s video, audio, and studio production equipment, plus unlimited access to OMF’s training programs. OMF is located in the Santa Fe Arts District, with easy access to light rail, tasty breweries and some of the best tacos in Denver.
