Lane County was established on January 29, 1851. As of the 2020 census, the population was 382,971, making it the fourth-most populous county in Oregon. Lane County comprises the Eugene Metropolitan Statistical Area and is one of two Oregon counties that extend from the Pacific Ocean to the Cascades mountain range.
