Government Transparency Sales Representative

Position Title: Government Transparency Sales Representative
Reports To: Open Media Project Manager
Salary: $33,000 + benefits 

Position Summary: The Open Media Foundation is looking for a full-time Sales Representative for our “Open Media Project” software. The OMP is an innovative Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) that provides searchable video transparency tools to legislatures, city councils and other government bodies. Some of our current clients include the Colorado State Legislature, Colorado Judicial Branch, City of Littleton and Arapahoe County to name a few. The primary focus of this job will be acquiring new customers.

Organization:  The Open Media Foundation is a nonprofit organization, providing communications services, training and tools to individuals, nonprofits and governments. Like a PR firm or Ad Agency, OMF offers professional video production, web development and branding services, exclusively for nonprofits and governments, with a matching grant that covers up to half the costs.  For those who want to make their own media, we teach a wide range of classes from audio recording to video editing. Finally, OMF provides high-end equipment, facilities and web and tv distribution (via DOM, Denver’s Public Access TV and Radio Stations) so everyone has access to the tools they need to make and spread their own media. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Prospect for new business and build a full pipeline of sales prospects (Salesforce)
  • Weekly cold calls to potential clients and following up by email
  • Close and manage incoming sales inquiries
  • Support new clients through their initial product launch
  • Attend and presenting at industry conferences
  • Create additional sales channel opportunities through vendor partnerships
  • Participate in discussions regarding product vision, road map and development priorities

  • Written and verbal communications: negotiating/sales skills, and effective presentation skills are a must
  • Industry knowledge: familiarity with IT terminology and media/communications technologies
  • Problem solving and analytical skills

 

Desired Experience: 

  • 1-2 years’ experience in any relevant field, including account management, advertising agency work, PR sales or services, government and other sales and account-support roles
  • Proven ability to develop solid, consultative business relationships through effective networking skills to grow and develop accounts   
  • Experience serving as first line of contact with customers is required
  • Ability to follow established processes, participate in account reviews and performance measurement as a client liaison
