Overview

The Second Wind Fund (SWF) believes that every child and youth at risk of suicide should have access to the mental health treatment they need. They match youth at risk for suicide with licensed therapists in their communities. If a financial or social barrier to treatment is present, they pay for up to 12 sessions of therapy with one of their specialized network providers. This unique program helps referred youth discover hope and healing in their lives.

During our discovery process, we identified communicating services provided and how to get help were the most important goals for the website. Three large, emotional call to action buttons direct SWF's multiple audiences to the content they need. Clear and concise navigation makes the site's content easily accessible providing quick answers those in need.

Open Media Foundation was pleased to present Second Wind Fund with the Independent Voices Award of the Year at the annual event in December of 2014. The Independent Voices awards are given annually by the Open Media Foundation to honor community members and organizations. Individuals and organizations are nominated by staff and board of the Open Media Foundation, drawn from the community of organizations and individuals we encounter each year, whether through OMF's services, training, or tools.
